Game-Specific Questions
What is the difference between Klondike and FreeCell?
In Klondike Solitaire, most cards start face-down and you draw from a stock pile — luck plays a role. In FreeCell, all 52 cards are dealt face-up giving you complete information, and you use four “free cells” for temporary card storage. FreeCell is nearly 100% winnable with the right strategy.
How hard is Spider Solitaire?
Spider Solitaire is one of the hardest variants. It uses two decks (104 cards) and requires building same-suit sequences from King to Ace. One-suit Spider is great for beginners, while four-suit Spider is extremely challenging with a roughly 33% win rate.
What makes Pyramid Solitaire different from other Solitaire games?
Pyramid Solitaire is a math-based pairing game rather than a sequence-building game. You remove exposed cards that add up to 13 (e.g., 6+7, 5+8, Queen+Ace). Kings equal 13 and are removed alone. It has a low win rate (2-5%) but quick rounds make it addictive.
How does TriPeaks Solitaire work?
In TriPeaks, you clear three peaks of cards by playing cards that are one rank higher or lower than the waste pile card. Ranks wrap around (King connects to Ace). It has the highest win rate (~90%) of any popular variant, making it great for relaxing play.
What is special about Yukon Solitaire?
Yukon Solitaire is a harder variant of Klondike with no stock pile. All cards are dealt to the tableau, and you can move any face-up card along with all cards on top of it — even if the group isn’t in proper descending alternating-color order. This flexible movement creates unique strategic opportunities.
Which Solitaire game is easiest to win?
TriPeaks Solitaire has the highest win rate at roughly 90%. FreeCell Solitaire is nearly 100% winnable with optimal play. Klondike averages about 30%, Spider about 33% (one suit), Yukon around 25%, and Pyramid just 2-5%.
